Earlier today, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G had been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking website as the Oppo CPH2357 with an octa-core SoC and 12GB of RAM! It seems as though this is the device we've all been waiting for. We should take a closer look at this to find out more about it.

A Single Octa-Core 7nm SoC With A Clock Speed Of 2.0GHz

The device listed on Geekbench has an octa-core 7nm MediaTek MT8176 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz. The chip comes with 12GB of RAM and 96GB of internal storage. The benchmark results suggest that a potential UFS 3.0 storage module is being used by the device. Although details about its chipset are not available, MediaTek’s MT8176 SoC is already known to have a 7nm design and support for up to 18W of power consumption during heavy usage scenarios. This means that it should be capable of powering VR devices easily as well as pushing out rich multimedia content in real time without any lags or frame drops while playing games or watching movies/videos

A Huge 12GB of RAM

The 12GB of RAM is quite extraordinary for a smartphone, to say the least. Even its rival, Huawei P30 Pro only has a 10GB of RAM. This means it can handle even more apps and games in memory at any given time without having to reload them from storage too often. Now that’s something we all want in our smartphones! It will also be great for multitasking, so you won’t have to worry about switching between your favorite applications every now and then. As if these weren’t enough, it also runs on MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC paired with an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz per core (which is still unknown). Other notable features include Android 9 Pie OS out of the box as well as support for 5G connectivity! However, there are no details regarding whether or not it will run on OPPO’s ColorOS 6 or OnePlus' OxygenOS. But, I think ColorOS is likely considering its flagship nature. Moreover, we can expect top-notch performance from such high-end hardware. Although I'm personally hoping for some new customizations by OPPO in ColorOS 6 considering how good their software looks! Well anyway, let's wait until OPPO announces everything officially. In fact, they might just do that tomorrow at their event scheduled to take place in India! So let's wait and see what happens! What do you guys think? Will you buy one? Or would you rather stick with other flagships? Let me know down below!

Android Pie Out Of The Box

The Chinese smartphone maker will update its latest device to Android Pie. The popular smartphone from Oppo has been seen running a build of Android 9 Pie based ColorOS 6 in a photo that was shared by tipster Ishan Agarwal on Twitter. The OPPO F9 is yet to receive an official stable release for Android Pie, which means that it’s too early to talk about when it might receive an update to Google’s latest operating system. Even so, it’s great to see that we could soon see some companies releasing their phones with Android Pie out of the box, and not just running it straight after a quick OTA update. A build of Android Pie based on ColorOS 6 was previously leaked online earlier today as well, although there are still no details regarding when exactly OPPO plans to roll out an official update for its latest smartphone. It’s also worth mentioning that there have been rumors suggesting that future smartphones from the company may run stock Android instead of being preloaded with third-party software such as ColorOS or Oxygen OS. It remains to be seen whether or not these rumors are true though, but it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if they were considering how many users have been asking for such a change lately.

This Is Not An Early Sample

These results clearly show that we are indeed looking at an early sample of a prototype device. If we compare these results to those of other smartphones, one can easily conclude that they do not match those of an actual production model. This conclusion is further supported by other leaked information. According to sources close to The Verge, there will be three different variants of the phone - 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB as well as 12GB+512GB version but only one model has been tested so far, which may mean that we are looking at either a midrange or a high-end model. Therefore, it is best to refrain from making any premature conclusions about its performance given these numbers could change before it goes into production next year.

MediaTek Has Enough Chip Supply To Meet Demand

MediaTek has recently announced that they have no issues producing enough chips for their customers, which is good news for smartphone manufacturers looking to launch high-end smartphones in 2019. There’s really strong demand at all price points, in part because of 5G, said Neil Shah, research director for devices and ecosystems at Counterpoint Research. We estimate MediaTek shipping 250 million SoCs [this year] to smartphone makers. This comes as a surprise given that during an investor call back in February, MediaTek reported poor chip sales due to lack of demand from its major clients. During an interview with CNET, however, Stacy Hu, vice president of marketing at MediaTek confirmed they have enough supply and are not concerned about keeping up with demand. The company was able to expand production thanks to capital expenditures made last year, Hu added. This means smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi can now rely on MediaTek when it comes time to ship smartphones later in 2019. Huawei was one of those companies relying heavily on MediaTek, but we saw them announce two Kirin 980-powered flagships just yesterday - so perhaps it's safe to say that Huawei doesn't need MediaTek anymore? Perhaps Huawei will make its own chipset next year? In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if more phone makers announce their new flagships before Mobile World Congress next month based off of these latest reports. Hopefully there will be some surprises left by then... What do you think? Do you think there will be any smartphone announcements before MWC?
